Hi scott980,
My understanding is that if you meet the qualifications for receiving unemployment you may apply for and receive it regardless of where you may move to. You must qualify for unemployment (i.e. been terminated for other than excluded reasons [i.e. stealing, etc.]).
It is also my understanding that the wages for a union laborer will depending on which company one chooses to labor for.
Hopefully, others may reply with any more information on these issues. |

| i see. thank you for the reply. ok i have a couple more questions. first is, so if i do not get terminated but leave to move to another state i will not get unemployment? second is, is Maine a right to work state? third is, i thought all labor unions paid the same inside state lines, for the same kind of work. i.e. all union insulators get paind the same amount. is this correct. thanks again for taking the time to answer my questions. |

Hi again scott980,
Yes, my understanding is you're correct, if you choose to resign your job, you are not eligible for unemployment as you would be unemployed by your own choice.
Fortunately for you and all the citizens of Maine, it is not a 'Right to Work For LESS' state. All members of a union need to pay their fair share of dues.
Unions negotiate contracts individually with each employer and will have unique agreements. The rate of pay may or may not be the same from one union member to a union member in a different union and different location within a state. |
