How does a union's members go about creating performance measures for their union rep/reps?

I'm thinking attendance at mutual agreed upon meetings would be a good start -- like general membership meetings and Steering Committees.

Timelyness on putting out officer election ballots and union meeting notices would be a good thing to monitor.

Within our union, the membership elects the Executive Director by popular vote. The Executive Director then hires and oversees the actions of the Business Representatives. However, should there be somehting specific which the member may want to have met or performed by the Business Reps., the membership may be able to ammend the Constitution and Bylaws to reflect the issue.

What should be expected from union organizers during a organizing campaign. Is it right to expect them to be aggressive, or are the workers the ones who should be aggressive.

An election was lost last year and the time is comming where the workers can have another election. Looking for info on how to gauge the efforts of the organizers for the union. Trying to figure out if we need to use another union.

I advise you to communicate directly with the union which you an/or your coworkers have seleceted as their potential union to represent them and ask them directly what their intentions are. There are various organizing methods which may be used. I would presume this particular organization would have a decent understanding of what they could do better as a result of what did and didn't work during the previous effort.
