Why is TDU not hitting Hoffa where it really counts? It is a statistical fact that the majority of union rank and file members oppose America's involvment in Iraq.

Every Teamster in America needs to know that James P. Hoffa, the General President of the Teamsters Union, is a board member of the organization, "Committee for the Liberation of Iraq". This is the organization which was largely responsible for our involvement in Iraq.

http://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php?title=Committee_for_the_Liberation_of_Iraq

The CLI has lied to congess about Iraq's WMD and has lobbyied congress for the Billions of dollars already squandered in Iraq. Not to mention the 2600 American lives lost and the uncountable Iraq civilian deaths.

The next time you or a neighbor lose a son or daughter in Iraq, don't forget to thank Hoffa and the CLI. Don't like the high cost Gas due to the Iraq war? Be sure to thank Hoffa and the CLI. The next time you see a dead Iraq child cradled in it's weeping mother's arms on the 10:00 news, thank Hoffa.

Just think for one moment, what would be the outcome if Hoffa cared as much for the Teamsters Union as he does for getting us involved in the Iraq war? Why does he not lobby congress for better working conditions for American workers with the same zeal he used to get us involved in this unholy, illegal, war in Iraq?

No more Hoffa!

what is the purpose of attacking a union if they support the war it is my understanding that you are not loyal to your country or not a conservative etc.. if you dont support the war. democrats ratings are low because they dont support the war. myself i dont support the war along with most unions but all unions just like any other orginization are not alike.and who cares about ratings when you got to go with your heart. since this is a union site i would like to see this talked about on gop websites this i dont belive is the place for it. i may be out of line but when i want to hear about who hates unions i go to certain websites.i go to this website to change ideas with loyal union members

[color=blue:7dc735bd07][/color:7dc735bd07] It's probably not fair to single out Hoffa for this dubious honor, but he is a high profile figure in the labor movement (for better or worse, depending on your point of view ... in the interest of full disclosure, I am a recovering Teamster).

In reply to wondermite's thoughts, the war(s) are a potentially very divisive issue within the labor movement, but I feel it needs to be discussed out in the open. The costs of these military campaigns in both economics and our childrens' blood has far reaching impacts on workers in this country ... public sector unions in particular (should) realize how much more difficult things are going to be at the bargaining table for them and their members because of the immense resources expended in Afghanistan, Iraq (Korea, Iran, next ?).

I think unions need to take a position on the war, but after education and discussion with their members. I am sure that Hoffa's support for the war effort was a unilateral decision by a few select few folks, and not representative of any will of the Teamster membership.
