My store is closing and they are wanting to relocate us to a location more than 35 miles away. According to the union book, under article 14, it says if a surplus exists, then a reduction in work force is nec. They can relocate you but if over 35 miles, you can take a severance. but noone will help me in getting that. They say it doesnt qualify. Help.

[color=blue:3d9605b65f]Hi Ashlee,
I regret to hear of the closure of your store. As I do not have a copy of the Agreement between the Union (members) and the Company, I am not in a position to explain specifically why you do or do not qualify for any possible severance. I am also unclear as to what you are refering to as a "surplus". However, I encourage you to contact your union office and ask for their explanation as to why it is their understanding is that you and your fellow members may not qualify for the benefit which you understand you should be qualifying for. What specifically is the reason, Management and your Union office provides? Are you able to provide a specific area within your contract which contradicts the answer you are being provided? Please chare more information so that we may be of assistance.
Thank you for the opportunity to address your question. If we may be of greater assistanc in regards to this, or another issue, please contact us again.
Fraternally,
Dustin
