Hi, well I wrote a longer message, but I guess I have a time limit or something, cause it wouldn't post my message.
anyway, I am currently in Michigan, I just got back here from Nebraska fighting fires in Chadron,NE and came back to Michigan looking for work, but long story short our Economy(or lack of) makes it extremely difficult to find a decent job. I currently work as a delivery driver for pizza hut(yes, I went from saving lives to doing fast food arggghh).
I took a 6-month pre-apprentice course for concrete & plan on moving to Minnesota to join the local union there(OPCMIA #633) and just wondering how long after joining a union do you usually get a full-time, 60% of journeyman wages? I am saving every little penny from my current job in order to put money on an apartment and pay it up for 3-4mths and use the rest for gas, food, etc but obviously the savings won't last long, so I was just wondering how fast/slow job placement usually is for construction unions?
any advice would be great
Thank you,
Michael |
