|
|
| What would you do if your buisness manager took yr contract and changed it without the approval of the body that being a violation of by-laws . Who governs unions and makes sure that they are not abusing there power ? olms nope nlrb nope the international union nope other taking your actions to civil court which will be extreamly expensive to go up against a union and is hard to even find a lawyer that would even attempt let alone do it on a pro bono situation . Any ideas or suggestions or is this what its really about poor man loses to the rich union wins ? Money is the route to all evil but is needed to survive counter acting ehh . |

| What you think would happen if you represented your self in court on your own if you couldnt find a attorney to represent you because of the costs have you ever hear this done before .It is hard to let go of this when you have the 100 % proof of what they did but cant afford a lawyer . How hard could it be other than being a walking dictionary or thesaurus that im sure would be helpful . |

Nerp:
If in fact what you're saying is true and you have the proof, then you should file an Unfair Labor Practice against your union. You need to know if your union falls under the National Labor Relations Board or some another organization. You can contact the NLRB and they can assist you. But first and foremost, make sure you have the proof. Then definitely, follow-up.
I just joined today and have been reading through some of the posts. This one caught my attention right away.
Good luck. |

sounds similar to what happened to us. They had us do an informal vote thru our stewards. What ended up being put into place was not what we voted for. once we complained they blamed everyone from the stewards to the union president. The union rep should have made sure we received the correct info before we voted. I swear they are in with the employers as this is not the only thing they screwed us on in a similar fashion.

Hi Nerp,
The contract which the Union membership voted on, between the Workers and the Employer, is a 'living document'. The Business Manager, which the Union membership voted into office, may have the right to agree to changes which are negotiated with the workers' Employer. Sometimes circumstances which were not present or overlooked at the time of the creation of the contract arise and changes to the contract would be beneficial for the Employer and the Workers. Hopefully, these changes will be seen as beneficial by and for the membership of the Union, but not always, by everyone. If there are enough Union members who are discouraged by the decisions made by their elected Business Manager (who's job it is to conduct the daily business of the Union [its' Membership]) those Union Members will elect new leadersip into that position, during election time.
Fraternally,
Dustin
