I may be posting this question in the wrong area...Sorry if so...

I have a question/concern about my husband reentering the union.
My husband was going through a time in his life about 4 1/2, 5 years ago, he took a withdrawal card from the union-in ggod standing. He has worked in many different fields of work in between this time, he decided that he wanted to get back into the love his calling the elevator union.

When he left his dues were paid and he left in good standing. He went in front of the executive board during a meeting not so long ago. The BA that should be representing him is not really giving him the respect nor doing what he should in my eyes, after going in front of this panal he was told by the BA he would get back with him within 7 days, 7 days passed and no call no letter no anything, so on the 9th day, my husband called this person 6 times left messages on his business phone and his cell phone, the man was not getting back with him, my husband decided to go to the union hall and low and behold the man that was not picking up the phone or returning his call was sitting in his office, when he asked if the committee had made a decision yet on when he could come back the man said that he didn't know how he was going to bring him back in because he did not know where to place him in the union, he was very adoment about letting him know that if he was brought back in he would be at the lowest and if there were a lay off he would be the first one to be laid off, still this man is not giving him any positive answers he is basically waiting for him to give up on getting back in he just simply will not give him the time of day and from what I gather he is not going by the Constitution BY-Laws and International Union of Elevators manual at all. My question is this, if this is a union why is this man a BA in this local union if he does not go by the book, if he went by the book my husband would be in right now not waiting on a man to call him, he has done what it states that he needs to do according to the by laws, now he should be working instead of waiting. I thought that a union member pays his dues, goes to schooling for years and does everything by the book, then he has a crisis in his life takes a legal withdrawal to return perhaps but return with no hassels in good standing then is shot down by the BA in charge of this district.

What can my husband do to get back in??? This should not be happening to him... Why so many hoops? [/i:7027abde78][/b:7027abde78]

[color=blue:70c544377f]Hi,

Please accept my apologies for not replying sooner. I regret to hear of the difficulties your husband has been experiencing in his efforts to rejoin his union and I agree with you, it really shouldn't be this hard.

I believe you are inquiring of the International Union of Elevator Constructors. In order to resolve this issue, I encourage you to contact the President and/or Executive Director of your husband's local and then the International's office here: http://www.iuec.org . Provided on the site is the contact information for the locals and the Internationals'.

Fraternally,

Dustin
