Please submit the following with this form:

  • Personal Statement: In 750 words or less describe your experience with the apprenticeship program you have enrolled with and why you have chosen this union career for your future.
  • Two letters of recommendation from your high school administrators, union directors/management, friends or family that can qualify your professional ability to accomplish your goals.
  • Official letter from apprenticeship program stating your enrollment in their program.
  • (Optional) Up to two (2) digital photos of recent picture of yourself and or diagrams of your work sent to mtardiff@unions.org. Articles of your accomplishments are also acceptable to be sent to be posted on the website.


SCHOLARSHIP QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must show proof of acceptance to an apprenticeship training program.
  • Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
  • Must possess high school diploma or GED.
  • Must be physically able to perform the work of the trade.
  • Applicant must take and pass aptitude examination and an oral interview. 
  • Must be able to read, write and speak the English language in order to comprehend instructions on the job and in related training classes and to ensure personal and co-worker safety on the job.
  • Must be prepared to attend related training classes
  • Must present a valid California Driver's License (for identification).
  • Should be able to present verification to potential employers of legal right to work in the United States.

The deadline for applications for the 2006-2007
Apprenticeship Awareness Scholarship Program deadline is October 15, 2006.  All apprenticeship students who have been enrolled for at least three months in an apprenticeship program are eligible for the award.
