ExxonMobil relies largely on contractual employee Unions like International Federation of Chemical, Energy, Mine and General Workers' Union or ICEM for their world-wide operations. There however exists tension between the management and workers, and ExxonMobil has been accused of gender discrimination and failure to consider basic demands of Union workers. They are known for their unfeeling attitude towards members of the Union, and refuse to consider putting them on the regular payroll. Efforts however are underway to bridge the gap and there is hope in the horizon for Union employees.
