Obama Levels Playing Field for U.S. Workers, Says No to China’s Unfair Trade Fees
President Obama took action to level the playing field for American workers by filing an unfair trade complaint against China with the World Trade Organization. The complaint challenges China to eliminate $3 billion in unfair duties on more than 80 percent of U.S. auto exports to China.
“American workers are proud to have a strong advocate in the White House,” said AFSCME Pres. Lee Saunders. “AFSCME applauds the Obama administration for taking a strong stand against these unfair trade practices. China must be held accountable for these high import duties on cars that not only hurt workers in the auto industry but will have an adverse effect on our American economy.”
President Obama has a proven record of fighting for the middle class. He rescued the American auto industry and now takes steps to level the playing field with China. Mitt “let Detroit go bankrupt” Romney would have turned his back on workers here at home and cannot be trusted to advocate for working families on the international stage.
