Write To Introduce Our Organization: United Government Security Officers Of America. Jim Vissar Started Ugsoa International Union In 1992, Feeling That Security Officers Needed Better Representation. Too Many Companies And Unions Felt We Were Guards As Opposed To Highly Trained Security Officers. After Disaffiliating From Two Different International Guard Unions, Mr. Vissar Wanted To Concentrate On Representing Highly Trained Security Officers, Getting Away From The Guard And Watchman Image. So He Limited Our Representation To Only Security Officers Who Contract To The City, County, State, And Federal Government. In May Of 2000 At Our International Convention, We Changed Our Constitution To Allow Representation Of All Types Of Security. We Continue To Concentrate Our Efforts In The Government Security Arena; However, We Now Represent Non-government Security As Well. We Know That Many Employees In The Security Industry Consider Themselves Professionals And We Want To Represent You. We Were Excluded From Representing Officers Of The Type At Lockheed Martin And Mcdonald Douglas Prior To This Change In Our Constitution. Now We Can. Ugsoa Is Committed To Ensuring That Our Members Receive Fair Treatment, Job Security, Competitive Wages, Adequate Health Care Coverage And Dignity And Respect In The Workplace. We Know And Understand The Difficulties That Security Officers Face On A Day-to-day Basis Because Our Directors Have Worked In Security, Law Enforcement, And Labor Relations Fields For Many Years. Ugsoa Will Never Waiver From The Original, Personal Commitment That Our Union Was Founded On.
